Ulrika H. Westergren has in her role as associate professor lead a number of research projects focusing on the business aspects of IT-related organizational change, studying topics such as what are the drivers for change and how can a firm use IT to create business value. As a myriad of products become interconnected through the Internet of Things (IoT), new business opportunities arise for firms. How to capitalize on these opportunities, move from products toward services, and create IT-based business value are questions of strategic importance for firms. Using case based examples Westergren describes the potential for firms looking to transform their businesses with the Internet of Things. Addressing questions such as ”When and how should firms implement IoT into their offerings?”, ”Which innovation- and change processes must be in place in order for business value to be realized?”, and ”What types of value are created through the IoT?”, Westergren describes the business challenges and opportunities inherent to building a digital infrastructure and the multiple ways to value creation within an IoT ecosystem.
