Welcome to the June 2026 meeting of the Working Group Standards & Platforms.

From spectators to co-creators

– public dialogue, digital twins and the path towards a European CitiVerse platform
How can AR, AI and digital twins turn citizens into co-creators in urban planning — and what standards are needed for these solutions to be scalable? Petter Hauffman (ucity.earth) shares concrete case studies from the field: future consultations for 23 mobility hubs in San Jose, where browser-based AR with centimetre-level precision reduces the cost per citizen interaction to a tenth; the avatar methodology from Tampere, where residents and small business owners redesign their own neighbourhood; and Multispecies AI, where nature is given a voice in planning. The presentation ties these elements together into a framework for a European CitiVerse platform and highlights the specific gaps in standardisation where the Nordic region — and ISO/IEC JTC1 — can make a difference. Concludes with a joint discussion.

The formation of an IoT consortium

Mona Ekesryd from the Swedish Internet Foundation will be joining us to discuss the planned future IoT consortium. The Internet Foundation has by IoT Sweden / Vinnova been tasked with leading a strategic IoT project to examine how to establish a national consortium for IoT infrastructure, with a focus on local authorities and regions, and to implement this in collaboration with key stakeholders in the field. A clear ambition is that anyone who wishes to, is able to, and sees a need for collaboration is welcome to participate. This is therefore very important and interesting for us participating in the Standards & Platforms Working Group. During the meeting, we will discuss, among other things, how all parties can get involved and participate.

Final Technical Report for IoT Sweden

It is now time to summarise the technical progress and developments we have achieved together over the 10 years that IoT Sweden has existed as a strategic innovation programme through a final technical report. The report will provide a comprehensive and clear picture of the programme’s technological development, market engagement and long-term value. It will demonstrate how the programme’s various components have collectively created value and strengthened Sweden’s position within the IoT sector. Among other things, it will highlight key lessons that should be carried forward following the programme’s conclusion. Elias and Tobbe are now part of the programme office and are responsible for this report. You, who participate in the S&P Working Group and is interested, will have the possibility to contribute and highlight things you have found to be particularly important and valuable. At this meeting we get some initial information, and we will then revisit this topic on upcoming meeting.

As before, we conduct these meeting as hybrid meetings. You can participate by Zoom or physically on site. If you participate in person, please let me know if you like to join a common lunch, 11.30. I´ll be happy to send you an invite.
